Samsung IMEI check

Check a Samsung Galaxy IMEI to confirm it’s valid and see which model, model code (SM-…), variant and chipset its TAC is listed under. Then check the locks an IMEI can’t reveal.

Dial *#06# to see your IMEI. Spaces and dashes are fine. Put up to 10 numbers on separate lines, e.g. both IMEIs of a dual-SIM phone.

Examples:
  • Free, no sign-up
  • Model lookup runs in your browser
  • A source on every line

Why the TAC matters for Galaxy phones

Samsung sells most Galaxy models in several hardware variants, identified by the letters after the model number (for example SM-S921B or SM-S921U). Variants can differ in network bands and sometimes in chipset. Our open data has 1,441 Samsung TACs. For recent models the TAC record often includes the model code, a region such as “US Model”, and the chipset. That makes it a quick way to check that a second-hand Galaxy is the variant the seller says it is.

Checks an IMEI can’t do for you

  • Google account (FRP) and Samsung account: the seller removes both accounts and factory-resets the phone in front of you. Then set it up yourself without being asked for anyone else’s credentials.
  • Carrier lock: insert your own SIM and make a call and use mobile data.
  • Lost, stolen or unpaid: use the official checks for your country.
  • Warranty: Samsung’s support site for your country can check warranty by IMEI or serial number in many regions.

Questions

How do I find the model code on a Galaxy phone?

Settings → About phone shows the model number, for example SM-S921B. Compare it with the model code from the TAC lookup. A different code is not always fraud, since some TACs cover several codes, but the model family should match.

Will a US Galaxy model work in my country?

Not always. Variants differ in supported frequency bands, and sometimes in chipset (Snapdragon or Exynos). Our TAC results show the variant and chipset when the source lists them. Check the model code’s bands against your carrier before buying.

What is a Samsung “Reactivation lock”?

Samsung’s anti-theft lock, tied to the owner’s Samsung account. Together with Google’s Factory Reset Protection, it means a reset phone asks for the previous owner’s credentials. Make sure the seller removes both the Google and Samsung accounts before resetting.

Can the IMEI tell me if a Galaxy is financed or Knox-locked?

No. Some carriers and retailers lock financed Galaxy phones remotely through Samsung’s Knox platform. That status isn’t in the IMEI or in TAC data. Ask whether the phone is fully paid off, and use the official blacklist check for your country.
