Xiaomi IMEI check

Check a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO IMEI to see the model, its model code and, for many devices, whether the TAC belongs to a China, Global or India variant. That matters for network bands and software.

Dial *#06# to see your IMEI. Spaces and dashes are fine. Put up to 10 numbers on separate lines, e.g. both IMEIs of a dual-SIM phone.

Examples:
  • Free, no sign-up
  • Model lookup runs in your browser
  • A source on every line

Global, China and India variants

Xiaomi builds separate hardware variants for different markets, each with its own model code and TACs. Variants can differ in supported frequency bands, and China variants normally ship with China software without Google services. Resellers sometimes import China variants and flash them, so checking the TAC’s listed variant is a useful first test. Our data covers 18 Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO TACs.

Authenticity check from Xiaomi

Xiaomi’s product verification page checks an IMEI or serial number against Xiaomi’s own records. Xiaomi runs it; we don’t send it anything.

Locks and blacklist status

  • Xiaomi account (Find device): the seller signs out and turns off Find device before a factory reset.
  • Google account (FRP): removed by the seller too, or the reset phone will ask for it.
  • Lost or stolen: use the official check for your country. In India that is Sanchar Saathi. In Indonesia, also check that the IMEI is registered with Kemenperin, or the phone may be blocked.

Questions

How can I tell a China model from a Global model?

Run the IMEI through the checker above. For many Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO TACs, our data states “China Model”, “Global Model” or “India Model”, along with the model code (for example 2201117TG). You can also compare the model code in Settings → About phone with the code on the box.

Does a valid IMEI mean the phone is genuine?

No. Use Xiaomi’s own product verification page, which checks the IMEI or serial number against Xiaomi’s records. A valid IMEI format and a matching TAC are good signs, but not proof.

How do I check for a Mi Account lock?

Before paying, make sure the seller signs out of their Xiaomi account (Settings → Xiaomi Account) and that Find device is turned off. After a factory reset, the phone shouldn’t ask for the previous owner’s account.
